Abstract
The main trends in the development of the religious sphere of society in the era of postmodern globalization changes are considered, which consist in the increase of the segment of secular culture in society, cardinal shifts in Western Christian denominations, and that are supposed to find answers to the challenges of modern secular society.It is revealed that in the Western world, there is a steady tendency for Christians to become a minority of the population. Religion is becoming a private segment of human existence, but its potential and social significance are increasing.
