OILSEED RADISH AGRO-POTENTIAL IN THE SYSTEM OF GREEN MANURE, BIOFUMIGATION, PHYTOREMEDIAL AND BIOENERGY USE: Scientific monograph
Oilseed radish. Agro-potential in the system of green manure, biofumigation, phytoremedial and bioenergy use. Scientific monograph. Riga, Latvia : Baltija Publishing, 2025. 808 p.
The monograph explores the role and significance of oil radish among other cruciferous crops in fodder production, agriculture, and related sectors. It highlights its nutritional value, domestication, distribution, and current status. The botanical, biological, and morphological characteristics of oil radish are detailed, along with descriptions of regionally adapted varieties and step-by-step cultivation technologies for both fodder and seed production Particular attention is given to the effectiveness of oil radish in green manure systems, phytoremediation, and soil rehabilitation technologies. Its role in restoring degraded soils, stabilizing the agroecological condition of soil cover amid climate change, adapting fertilization strategies, and contributing to climate neutrality is emphasized. The authors aim to showcase the value and versatility of oil radish as a key productive element in Ukraine’s modern agricultural landscapes. Their analysis is grounded in long-term studies conducted by research institutions worldwide and is closely integrated with their own ongoing research within the framework of the state project «Development of environmentally friendly technologies for growing bioenergy crops to ensure energy independence and soil conservation for achieving climate neutrality» (State Registration No. 0124U000483).
